Privacy policy
Summary
Profile Tabs runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, sell, share or transmit any personal data. It has no server, no analytics and no advertising, and it loads no remote code.
What the extension stores, only on your device
- Profile settings you enter: each profile's name, color and, optionally, a Google account email.
- Google account emails it detects on Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive and Meet pages you open, read from the page's account button or title, with the time last seen. They are used only to choose the account for Google links opened from that page, and are listed in the extension's settings for troubleshooting.
- Which open tab belongs to which profile or account. This is kept in memory for the browser session and cleared when Chrome closes.
- Warnings (the last 50) raised when a WhatsApp page uses browser storage the extension cannot keep separate: a code, a short technical detail, the profile, and the time.
All of this stays in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
What the extension does on websites
- WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com): it changes the names under which WhatsApp saves its data in your browser, so each profile's data is kept apart. It does not read, copy or send your messages, contacts or media.
- Google sites (google.com): it reads which account a Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive or Meet page is signed into. When you open a link from such a page (or from a WhatsApp profile you linked to a Google email), it adds that account to the link's address (
authuser=) in the new tab, so Google opens it as that account. It does not read the content of your emails or documents.
Launcher pages
The optional launcher apps at profile-tabs-launchers.pages.dev are static pages that redirect to WhatsApp Web. They set no cookies and run no analytics. Like any website, the hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages.
Removing your data
Uninstall the extension to remove everything it stored. WhatsApp's own data for extra profiles stays in your browser's site data for web.whatsapp.com. To remove it, go to Chrome's Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites, and delete web.whatsapp.com.
